My journey with Wick Hollow started last year, I contacted Wick Hollow seeking employment in Construction, an Industry I particularly wanted to work in. To my surprise they had an internal vacancy, and I was fortunate enough to be offered a job and I have not looked back since.
My partner owns a Construction company and my three brothers all work in different trades, I am always blown away by how hard they all work and the results they achieve daily, I love the banter and the jovial way in which they always interact, and I guess because of all of this, I wanted to be part of it in some way too.
Initially my role at Wick Hollow was as a Recruitment Resourcer and general administrative duties to help to ease the team’s workload, but soon after starting Chris asked if I wanted to complete an apprenticeship through the company in Digital Marketing. I jumped at the chance, I had never actually considered Marketing as career progression before, but I am always up for a challenge and adding strings to my bow!
Up-skilling staff both internally and externally including site staff has always been important to Wick Hollow. The team will often advise and arrange relevant safety and certificate tests, CSCS, Medicals, Face fit etc so that a candidate meets all the requirements of a given role.
I am an absolute sponge when it comes to learning new things and completing courses, in my opinion there isn’t anything better than improving your knowledge and skill set, I thrive on challenges and results! Luckily for me I have found myself working at a company which actively encourages progression and challenges daily.
I am part way through my apprenticeship, and I can honestly say I never thought I would enjoy Marketing as much as I do. Tying my course learning into my job has been incredible, I am able to see real results within the company and its Marketing as I work my way through the apprenticeship.
Wick Hollow has always been vocal about advocating apprenticeships, learning ‘on the job’ in a work environment means you gain the skills your employer wants, whilst adding value to yourself and the business at the same time.
The future is bright as they say!
I am really enjoying the Marketing side of things and look forward to my continued growth in this area, steadily watching the fruits of my labour and the business grow at the same time.
I am loving being part of the Recruitment world also, turns out being a chatter box is finally working in my favour, being able to hold conversation is essential in this industry.
I am thoroughly enjoying being part of the Wick Hollow family, and I cannot wait to see what this new year brings!
